History

This is the story how the company called RP5 Software was founded in November 2006. It all started when 5 guys (Rami Talme, Jyrki Petterson, Olli Mensio, Matti Teinonen and Timo Vainio) noticed they shared the same vision and desire to help customers to improve their capability in software development. These guys have been working with each other for seven years time and felt - basing to their own experience - that work was not done in the best possible way. So they decided to be honest about this and agreed that there has to be some considerable improvement.

So it was obviously a place for a meeting. We discussed about the situation and noticed the best way to achieve the vision and serve customers is to found an own company focusing on helping customers to improve their capability in software development. Our goal was to make sure the customer gets more value for the software investments made.  With mentoring, training and consulting services we would help customers to introduce new tools, methodology and best practices.

Our vision formed to be a customer's partner in every software development sector: from business process modeling and requirements management to application modeling, from version and configuration management to testing and from best practices in software development to project and portfolio management. Our mission is to provide high quality know-how and experience in the shape of mentoring, consulting and classroom training so that customer's software development teams could better and faster benefit technology bought.

Before founding an own company some of us felt that going to work was not so pleasant than it had been earlier. We moved from place to another and worked as robots. That nice feeling that we really could influence in improving customer's software development capability was lost somewhere along the way. So we also set an internal target to get fun and balance back to work since the quest for the lost feeling was already started.

Starters of a new company naturally take everything out of their backs, especially when there are no other investors. But we did find that lost feeling when we were able to influence in how to interact with customers. It took a lot of work to get everything going smoothly and well, but there was also some times we hoped to get that famous extra hour to our day. Late night Skype conferences between five homeoffices were daily bread for entrepreneurs. But satisfied customers made it possible that we able to run a marathon with 100 meters speed.

It has been a pleasure to notice how many people have given us very good feedback and encouragement about foundation of the company.
